The Glory Days

Today is one of those dreamy Florida early spring days.  It feels warm but not hot and its sunny and beautiful.  This, this is why I have stayed in Florida.  I think about it as I get older and more used to sunshine and humidity and I don't believe I would live very many other places.  Of course never say never, I'm just so accustomed to this atmosphere and I genuinely like it.  There's a reason it's a desired retirement/vacation spot.  Of course ask me that in July when it's 103...

One thing I associate with these kinds of days is the leisure life of adolescence I led before.  The days where I'd get up for an early class or two at UCF (I loved earlier classes always, something refreshing about getting the grind out of the way and obviously easier parking!), to sauntering back home to hit the gym and then lay out at the pool.  About 4 o'clock I would head inside to get ready for my serving shift and wherever the night might lead after.  Study, sun, fun, hustle, repeat.  The glory days!

I'm off to admire the blue skies and think about my formally tanned toes.  I would never now not wear my beloved sunscreen!! #isirishwillburn #whydidntigetmymomsoliveskintone #didntgetitfromymomma

Self care reset

We all hear the buzzwords self care more than ever these days. Every where you turn, a lifestyle blogger, health guru, or magazine article shares insight on ways to treat yo self to some basic T. While I love modern discussions as much as the next girl, I’m aware sometimes it just doesn’t fit and you have to reset what isn’t working. For example, some weeks I am just done by the tine Friday hits. Hell, a rough Wednesday or Thursday has crept in there, too, requiring a pause and reflection for how best to naturally beat a funk or a “feeling of less than stellar”. Here my top self care reset ideas for your consideration: Drink water: Warm it with some lemon, try some green tea for an antioxidant boost, or just plain old room temperature is a sure way to get the boost to feeling a bit better. Face it: Fewer things feel as good as a really great face mask. I love charcoal in particular lately and always feel refreshed and restored and ready to ‘face’ another day. See w...

Reset on a Weekend

One of my favorite things in the world is laying in bed on a weekend night watching Netflix movies while my Hunter and my Ro nap next to me and I scroll Instagram home design and wellness accounts as well. This is particularly enjoyable after an extra long week, I might add. I feel calm and giddy alike throughout this downtime. I am able to relax and unwind, often taking mindfulness breaks and enjoying a komboocha or lemon water simultaneously. It couldn’t be any more basic. This recharge makes me naturally happy creating reflection and gratefulness for everything in my life. I’m a hard worker with determination and I like to reach goals and make new ones so I feel like I’m on more than I’m not. I need to reset like this because it reiterates what it’s about most at the end of the day; health, happiness, and an attitude of gratitude. What is your approach to bring it all back to center?              ...
